President of Latvia Valdis Zatlers will go on a working visit to Finland on February 9 and 10 to attend the Baltic Sea Action Summit (BSAS) in Helsinki. The event is being organised by Finnish President Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, and the Baltic Sea Action Group. Environment Minister Raimonds Vējonis will be accompanying the President on the visit.
On the first day of the visit, President Zatlers is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with President Halonen to discuss bilateral economic relations with Finland, as well as international co-operation between the two countries, particularly under the framework of the EU.
On February 10, President Zatlers will take part in two BSAS plenary sessions, as well as a working luncheon organised by the Finnish president and prime minister for heads of state and government from countries in the Baltic Sea region. During the morning plenary session, President Zatlers will present a brief address on Latvia’s views as to the Baltic Sea strategy and the investments that need to be made in the pursuit thereof. |
