“The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a major cooperation partner of Latvia among the Gulf countries and an important transport and trade centre, which enables the development of economic cooperation of Latvia in a wider region,” emphasised President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with the UAE top officials during his visit there.


“High-quality products are produced in Latvia that enables entrepreneurs of our country to fight for new export markets decidedly, and a large distance from Latvia is not an obstacle to conquer the latter,” emphasised President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis at the opening of the Latvia’s national stand at the international food and hospitality exhibition Gulfood 2017 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on Sunday.


“Latvian enterprises are interested in new sales markets outside the traditional export markets in Europe, therefore the United Arab Emirates, in particular, raise a lot of interest as a potential business destination,” stated President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis when opening the Latvia - the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Business Forum in Dubai on Sunday.


President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will pay a visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from February 25 to February 28. The President of Latvia will be accompanied by Ministers of Economics, Agriculture, and Transport, as well as an extensive business delegation.


“The development of Latvia’s economy will increasingly depend on the fact how well a link between high-quality education and science and innovative entrepreneurship will be forged,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his regional visit to Ventspils on Thursday.



President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis sent congratulations to the annual meeting of the Chief Prosecutors, where he welcomed the tradition of the prosecutors to gather in a joint meeting annually to assess the progress made in a previous year and to set goals and objectives for a forthcoming year. 


While continuing the reforms initiated in the general education system, it is necessary to improve sectoral regulation to create a legal basis for the arrangement of the school network, as President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis stated during his meeting with Minister of Education and Science Kārlis Šadurskis on Tuesday.


President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis emphasised that the Baltic-US cooperation had been consistently strong after the meeting of the Presidents of the three Baltic States and Vice President of the United States Mike Pence on Saturday.


“For Latvia and Croatia, strengthening cooperation in security and defence and working closely together in strengthening the project of a united Europe are vital,” stated President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis during his meeting with President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic on Saturday.


President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will participate in the annual international security conference in Munich on Friday and Saturday. There will be a meeting of the Presidents of the three Baltic States and US Vice President Mike Pence convened on Saturday, February 18.
