Egils Levits

Hon’ble Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu will visit Latvia on August 19 and 20. The visit will take place as a part of his visit to the Baltic States. Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu will be the top official of India to visit the Republic of Latvia so far.

The visit of Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu to Latvia confirms successful bilateral economic and cultural relations between the countries, as well as co-operation on education and the issues of Indian community.

During the visit, a solemn flower-laying ceremony is planned at the Freedom Monument, a visit to the exhibition “Latvia’s Century” at the National History Museum of Latvia, a meeting with Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš and Deputy Speaker of the Saeima Inese Lībiņa-Egnere. The visit will continue with a meeting between Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu and President of Latvia Egils Levits, a meeting between the delegations of both countries, and a press statement of both officials in the Riga Castle. Later on participation in the closing event of the Latvian-Indian Business Forum will follow, and the opening of the bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the National Library of Latvia, a book donation to the People’s Bookshelf, and donation of 50 books to the National Library of Latvia will conclude the visit.

Venkaiah Naidu by 10 a.m. on 16 August 2019 by filling in the application form prepared by the Chancery of the President of Latvia for each individual to be accredited. Please note that the permanent accreditation of the Chancery of the President of Latvia shall not be valid for coverage of these events. Accreditation applications received after the deadline will not be processed.
