Uzrunājot ANO Ģenerālo asambleju, Valsts prezidents uzsvērs starptautisko tiesību, likuma varas, klimata un digitālo izaicinājumu jautājumus
While on working visit to the United States of America (USA) on 22-27 September, the President of Latvia, Egils Levits, will participate in the UN General Assembly in New York and World Economic Forum.

On 24 September, President of Latvia will address the participants of UN Sustainable Development Summit. In his address to the UN General Assembly, President Levits will focus on international law, rule of law, climate and digital challenges. President’s participation at the General Assembly includes a meeting with UN Secretary general António Manoel de Oliveira Guterres and the UN Youth.

During the UN General Assembly meeting, President of Latvia will meet with President of Croatia, HE Ms Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, President of Moldova, HE Mr Igor Dodon, President of Austria, HE Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, HE Ms Erna Solberg, and President of Georgia, HE Ms Salome Zourabichvili. President Levits will also attend a reception hosted by President of the US, HE Mr Donald J. Trump. President of Latvia has also scheduled meeting with founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Professor Klaus Schwab.

Other events of President’s working visit to the United States of America include meeting with  President of the National Committee on American Foreign Policy, Dr. George Schwab, and representatives of the Atlantic Council think tank; visit to Columbia University and Princeton University, where President, students and academic staff will have a discussion. President will also meet with American Latvians and take part in the opening of the exhibition by Latvian artist Vija Celmiņa.

President of Latvia, Egils Levits, will be accompanied on his working visit to the United States by First Lady, Andra Levite. On 24 September, First Lady of the Republic of Latvia will donate Latvian books to the New York Public Library.
