Valsts prezidents akreditē Kubas, Peru un Zambijas vēstniekus
On Tuesday, 19 June 2018, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis accredited the Ambassadors of Cuba, Peru, and Zambia to Latvia at a solemn ceremony in the Riga Castle.

When addressing H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to the Republic of Latvia Mr Thierry Roca-Rey Deladrier, the President of Latvia welcomed the friendly bilateral relations between the two countries and regular dialogue in multilateral and regional formats. During the conversation, the President of Latvia voiced the interest of Latvia in developing closer economic cooperation (including trade, tourism), as well as cooperation in education and science along with the political dialogue. Latvia would continue to work so that the OECD would start accession negotiations with new member countries, including with Peru.

During the conversation with H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to the Republic of Latvia Mr Eduardo Lazo Pérez, the President of Latvia noted that our country was currently developing relations with the Latin American region in politics, economics, tourism, and culture. Latvia sees the potential for cooperation in higher education by promoting a broader exchange of students and academic staff, including programme Erasmus+ and by developing collaborative research in areas such as ICT and environmental protection.

In his turn, at a meeting with H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia to the Republic of Latvia Ms Rose Mulemba Salukatula, the President of Latvia confirmed Latvia’s intention to promote political dialogue with the Republic of Zambia. The European Union is an important partner for Zambia and the EU will continue its support to Zambia in order to promote democracy and economic development in the country.
