Valsts prezidents sveic Latvijas Valsts policiju 100. gadadienā
On Wednesday, 5 December 2018, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis participated in the celebration to mark the 100th anniversary of the State Police in the Riga Latvian Society House.

The President of Latvia extended his gratitude to all the employees of the State Police for their work when taking care of the security of our country and its people every day.

“Being aware of the risks to their own health and life, employees of the State Police work every day so that the inhabitants of Latvia can feel safe in their own homes and on the streets of the cities and towns aiming at securing the human rights, protecting the interests, reducing domestic violence, strengthening the rule of law in the country, and ensuring public order and security,” stressed Raimonds Vējonis.

The President of Latvia acknowledged that under modern turbulent geopolitical conditions, it was crucial that well-trained and equipped personnel worked in the State Police. However, the ever-present readiness of the State Police officers to fulfil the duties entrusted to them and keeping the high reputation of the police officer is of the same importance, as every law enforcement officer contributes to the image of Latvia in the eyes of its inhabitants and visitors.

Raimonds Vējonis noted that the employees of the State Police stood up for both the security of our country and its inhabitants in Latvia and also improved security beyond the borders or our country by collaborating with their colleagues around the world. “The professionalism and expertise of the State police are highly valued internationally,” said the President of Latvia.

The President of Latvia thanked the employees of the State Police for the work done every day as well while taking care of the safety of our children by preventing threats and educating the little and most vulnerable residents of our country.

“On the 100th anniversary of the State Police, I wish not to rest on the laurel and continue the purposeful work on the development of internal security by providing the technical means necessary for the work of the State Police and improving the working and social conditions of the police officers,” wished Raimonds Vējonis.
