Valsts prezidents kopā ar kuplām Latvijas ģimenēm pie Rīgas pils iededz Ziemassvētku egli
On 5 December 2018, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone illuminated the Christmas tree together with active and large families of Latvia at the Riga Castle.

When welcoming the audience, the President of Latvia emphasised that the past, present, and future of Latvia would not be possible without knowledgeable, decent, and responsible people and strong families and generations, who devoted their energy to living and working in Latvia, and bringing up our young generation.

“Family is an eternal value because the power of families has formed our country a hundred years ago and strengthens our Latvia even today. Large and dynamic families will also shape our next century,” stressed President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis.

First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone also welcomed the present families by noting that being together every day and on holidays, sharing joy and sorrow, supporting each other was the greatest value the family gives us. The family consisting of a dad, a mom, a grandma, or a grandfather are those who comfort, cheer up, support, give advice, bring up, and are present in the most significant events of one’s life. “We are all very proud of you because families are the strongest pillar of Latvia,” outlined First Lady of Latvia Iveta Vējone.
