The parties discussed the measures needed to support the development of municipalities along the country’s eastern border, including issues related to security and civil protection, education, healthcare, the availability of transport and communications infrastructure, as well as support for entrepreneurship. Upenieks also discussed the draft law on the development of the Eastern border area, which had been reviewed the previous day by the Latgale Subcommittee of the Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee of the Saeima.
