Dear Ukrainian friends,
Four years ago, Russia launched its full-scale war against your country. This aggression has inflicted immense pain and loss. Yet you stand strong. Ukrainian bravery, unity and spirit inspire the world.
But we all know too well that the war began not in 2022. It began 12 years ago – with Russia’s illegal occupation of Crimea and the war in Donbas.
Latvia stands firmly by your side. We know that you fight not only for Ukraine’s freedom, but also for all of us. For freedom and dignity of the world. Against darkness and oppression.
Your courage shines. The recent act by Ukrainian skeleton athlete Vladyslav Heraskevych reminded the world how strong you are. It reminded that memory cannot be banned. That values matter. That principles matter. His courage reflects the soul of your nation—dignified, proud, and free.
In these dark and freezing winter days, know that Latvia and all true friends of Ukraine stand with you. Glory to Ukraine. Glory to your brave defenders.
Slava Ukraini!
