Today, President of Latvia Egils Levits called the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier to exchange views on latest efforts in containing Coronavirus COVID-19.  

Egils Levits thanked Frank-Walter Steinmeier for helping Latvia to repatriate its nationals and get them back home. President of Latvia and President of Germany discussed efforts of each of the countries in containing the virus and mitigating its economic impact. Presidents of both countries agreed that the European Union should focus on response to economic crisis and free movement of goods. President Levits and President Steinmeier talked about restrictions on Polish border that have slowed down the flow of goods. President of Latvia and President of Germany decided to continue inter-governmental negotiations between Latvia and Germany on ferry traffic for cargo lorries (RoRo line) between Germany and Latvia.
