President of Latvia Egils Levits had several meetings with in-depth discussions on current foreign, defence and security policy agenda at the Riga Castle today.

President Levits had a morning meeting with Speaker of the Saeima Ināra Mūrniece, Prime Minister Arturs Krišjānis Kariņš, Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs and the Chair of the Saeima Foreign Affairs Committee Rihards Kols, whereas meeting with the members of the Saeima foreign affairsm defence and national security committees took place in the afternoon.

Egils Levits underlined the need for common coordinated foreign, defence and security policy position of the President of Latvia, Prime Minister and the Saeima. The key focus of discussions was the progress of national comprehensive defence concept package in the parliament, current EU, NATO, OECD and UN agenda, as well as efficient representation of Latvia’s international interests.
