Par Valsts prezidenta sasaukto Nacionālās drošības padomes sēdi

On 12 November, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs chaired a meeting of the National Security Council at the Riga Castle

The meeting heard reports from the Chair of the Central Election Commission, the Director of the State Digital Development Agency, and the Chair of the Board of the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Radio and Television Centre" on the arrangements for the 2026 Saeima elections. In view of the shortcomings observed during this year’s municipal elections and the call of the National Security Council meeting on June 11 to address these deficiencies, today’s discussions focused primarily on measures to mitigate potential risks, timely testing of electoral systems, internal communication and cooperation among the institutions involved, and prevention of external interference in the election process. The competent authorities continue their work to ensure a successful election process.

The National Security Council heard a report from the Head of the Crisis Management Centre, Arvis Zīle, on the Centre’s activities since its establishment on 1 July this year under the direct authority of the Prime Minister, and its role in informing the institutions involved in crisis management and coordinating crisis communication.

The meeting heard reports from state security institutions on the current situation.
