On May 23, from 15:00 to midnight, as part of Museum Night, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the President’s residence at Riga Castle. This year’s Museum Night, themed “The Adventures of an Object,” will offer a special opportunity to learn about the Presidential Standard (flag) and view the key to Riga Castle.
The Presidential Standard and the key to Riga Castle are important symbols that, in a special ceremony, are handed over by the outgoing President of Latvia to the incoming President upon taking office.
During the Museum Night, visitors will have the opportunity to visit the representative and function halls of the Riga Castle: the Parade Entrance Hall, the Riga Room, the Dorothea Room, the Armorial Hall, the Green Hall, the Blue Salon, the White Hall, the Ambassadors Accreditation Hall, the Čakste Study, the Festival Hall and the Gifts Room.
Guests of the Riga Castle will also be treated to musical performances. The event will feature the National Armed Forces Headquarters orchestra and National Guard orchestra, Jazz “Combo” Ensemble of Ķekava Music School, National Guard Choir “Stars” and The Benjamiņu House Mixed Choir “Atpuhta”.
At the Riga Castle, there will be an opportunity to learn more about the National Guard and the central organisation of the Latvian Scouts and Guides, as well as watch the changing of the guard ceremony and performances by the Middle Generation Folk Dance Group “Mārupieši”.
Attention visitors!
No identification documents will be required to visit the events and premises of the President’s residence – Riga Castle – during Museum Night. Entrance will be through the Riga Castle gates from the side of Pils Square.
A security check will be carried out at the entrance to Riga Castle. The Chancery of the President of Latvia kindly requests that visitors refrain from bringing large bags, food items, animals, or metal objects. We also ask for your understanding, as due to high level of interest, queuing may be expected.
