On 8 January 2022, according to the Article 20 of the National Security Law, National Security Council convened to agree on the nominee for the position of the director of the Constitution Protection Bureau (CPB). Mr Egils Zviedris will now have to be approved by the parliament.
Egils Zviedris joined national security community in 1992 and is employed by CPB since 2000. He has served as the deputy director of CPB and head of its Intelligence Unit.
