On 23 September, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs took part in the 6th Summit of the International Crimea Platform in New York, the United States of America.
“Russia is trying to erase the Ukrainian identity, suppress basic freedoms and push its agenda by force. It is an attempt to substitute international law with brute force and imperialistic spheres of influence. It is an attempt to substitute the United Nations and international oversight with lies and total control.
Internationally recognised borders cannot, and should not, be redrawn by force. We refuse to recognise the illegal annexation of Crimea, Sevastopol and other parts of Ukraine. Our message to Ukrainians is clear: your identity, rights and future belong to you. Latvia will continue to support Ukraine. We believe in Ukraine’s integrity, sovereignty and freedom. We believe it will be achieved,” President Rinkēvičs stressed in his address to participants of the summit.
