Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs tiekas ar Zemkopības ministru Armandu Krauzi.

On 4 August, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze at the Jūrmala residence to receive information on the damage caused to the agricultural sector by heavy rainfall and to discuss ways to strengthen the sector’s resilience against adverse climatic conditions. The officials also discussed the European Commission’s proposal for the European Union’s multiannual financial framework for 2028–2034 period.

During the meeting, the President was briefed by the Minister of Agriculture on the extent of the damage caused by weather conditions and discussed measures to stabilise the situation. President Rinkēvičs called on the government to declare a state of emergency in agriculture, which would allow farmers to receive the necessary support more effectively.

Discussing the European Commission’s proposal for the EU’s multiannual financial framework, the President expressed the view that the Minister of Agriculture, in cooperation with the government and sectoral organisations, must actively defend the interests of Latvian farmers.

The officials also addressed current issues related to coastal fisheries.
