On 1 July, prior the start of his state visit to Estonia, President Edgars Rinkēvičs congratulated the Naval Patrol Squadron on the 22nd anniversary of its establishment aboard a patrol vessel of the National Armed Forces Navy.
The President thanked the Commander of the National Armed Forces Navy, Flotilla Admiral Māris Polencs, and the Commander of the Naval Patrol Squadron, Captain Armands Apeins, for their contribution to strengthening security in the Baltic Sea and close cooperation with Allies in the Baltic Sea region.
The National Armed Forces Naval Patrol Squadron was established on 1 July 2004.
