On 28 June, President Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the informal summit of the Presidents of the Central and Eastern European states in Poland. 

President of Latvia, together with the President of the Republic of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, Gitanas Nausėda, the President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, and the President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, visited the Naval Port of Gdynia. At the Polish President’s residence in Jurata, the leaders discussed the common position of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, and Romania ahead of the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara in July.

Particular attention was devoted to strengthening regional cooperation and addressing security issues in the Baltic Sea and Black Sea regions. The leaders discussed Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the growing risk of hybrid threats along the external borders of NATO and the European Union. The heads of state agreed on the need to further strengthen air defence capabilities and reinforce eastern border. The presidents also discussed key aspects of transatlantic relations. 

On 28 June, President Rinkēvičs continues his working visit to Poland by participating in the international commemorative events marking the 70th anniversary of the Poznań June 1956 protests.
