This morning, President of Latvia Egils Levits met with Minister for Interior Māris Kučinskis to discuss the emergency in Jēkabpils.
‘Situation is stable, but threats remain. The response of local administration and responsible services meets professional and efficiency standards. Residents are receiving the required help. The Crisis Management Council of the Cabinet of Ministers will meet today to decide on the next steps. I will continue to monitor these steps and further developments in Jēkabpils,’ Egils Levits said after the conversation.
