On 21 May, President Edgars Rinkēvičs held a video conference with the NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to discuss the current security situation in the airspace of Latvia and the Baltic states.

The President thanked the NATO Secretary General for his firm stance in refuting Russia’s blatant lies and threats. President Rinkēvičs also expressed gratitude for the support of NATO Allies and the deployment of Allied forces in Latvia.

The officials discussed further urgent steps to protect the airspace of the Baltic states and to strengthen Allied involvement in the defending the eastern border.
