On 28–29 April 2025, President Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the annual Three Seas Initiative Summit held in Warsaw, Poland.

During the working session of the summit, President Rinkēvičs emphasised the importance of fostering cooperation among the defence industries of the countries participating in the Three Seas Initiative, as well as enhancing energy security and independence, in order to strengthen the overall security and resilience of the region. “Cooperation between defence industries of Three Seas Initiative countries must be strengthened. We must also bolster our energy independence. The synchronisation of the Baltic electricity transmission systems with continental Europe was a historic step in advancing the region’s energy autonomy. It stands as an example of good practice and encourages us to pursue new projects in the energy sector. It is crucial to continue implementing such initiatives and to reinforce energy independence, including by increasing imports of liquefied natural gas from the United States,” said E. Rinkēvičs.

Marking the tenth anniversary of the Three Seas Initiative, President Edgars Rinkēvičs expressed his appreciation for the shared commitment of member states, strategic partners, and associated participating countries to develop sustainable transport, energy, and digital infrastructure links stretching from Northern to Southern Europe. President Rinkēvičs particularly emphasised the importance of long-term investment in transport infrastructure, including the enhancement of military mobility.

E. Rinkēvičs congratulated Spain and Turkey on becoming strategic partners of the Three Seas Initiative Summit, and welcomed Albania and Montenegro as newly associated participating states. The President noted that the growing interest in joining the platform is a clear indicator of its potential to foster the development of new business projects.

President Rinkēvičs also took part in the presidential panel of the Three Seas Initiative Business Forum alongside leaders from Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia.
