President of Latvia discusses the latest developments in the sector with Minister for Climate and Energy

On 21 July, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Minister for Climate and Energy Kaspars Melnis at the Jūrmala residence. During the meeting, the parties discussed current legislative proposals related to the sector, the draft electricity transmission service tariff, the ministry’s proposals for reducing bureaucratic burdens, as well as the development of renewable energy projects – solar and wind parks – in Latvia.

In the context of achieving climate neutrality goals, the President of Latvia emphasised that the targets set must be well-considered and proportionate, taking into account the views of sector representatives.
