On 6 November, President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Jelgava Lielupe Secondary School to learn more about functioning of the school and its musical traditions, and also meet the students.
“Students of Jelgava Lielupe Secondary School have given the whole Latvia more than one reason to be proud. Victories at the World Choir Games, international music Olympics, the Grand Prix of the Song and Dance Festival. Achievements built on talent, perseverance and enormous dedication on the part of students and their teachers.
With significant national holidays approaching, I would like to wish young people to always remain curious and brave, and also a little bit of patience. You do not, however, need to wait until you grow up to pursue your dreams. Get out there – try, fail, try again and bring others along. I hope you never run out of good friends, big dreams and satisfaction about collective triumphs.
I would like to thank the school staff for their professional input, for being demanding and believing in students. May Jelgava Lielupe Secondary School never run out of its inquisitiveness and joy for music,” President of Latvia stressed following the visit.
President Rinkēvičs visited the school upon video invitation of its students, received last year, filmed for the school’s 80th anniversary.
