Today President of Latvia Egils Levits presented the Order of the Three Stars (IV Class) to Arturs Sokolovs, the leading soloist of the Latvian National Ballet, for his important creative input in professional ballet in Latvia. Having been awarded the highest state honours, Arturs Sokolovs has been appointed an officer of the Order of the Three Stars.
“Thank you so much, Mr Sokolovs, for everything you give to Latvia’s culture and the state of Latvia! The attractiveness of Latvia and Riga depends on various factors. One of those is culture, and one element of culture is ballet. Thus, you help raise the value of our state and its capital with your work — your immensely professional work, your calling. Thank you for your contribution to our culture, our state and art! I would also like to thank your family and ballet company, everyone who is involved in the creation of ballet performances,” President of Latvia Egils Levits said in his address to Arturs Sokolovs and those present at the ceremony.
