National Security
Information about Council of National Security chaired by the President of Latvia and national security initiatives proposed by him. According to Satversme (Constitution of the Republic of Latvia) President is also the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces.
Clemency
Information about clemency procedures. Pardoning of convicted persons is part of the presidential mandate stipulated in Section 45 of Satversme.

The Order of the Three Stars

On 20 January, President of Latvia Egils Levits paid tribute to participants of 1991 Barricades and privately placed flowers at the Riga Brethren Cemetery, Freedom Monument and memorial stones around Bastion Hill.
