On 19 June, President Edgars Rinkēvičs attended the 10th Latvian Youth Olympiad in Valmiera.
“Only a few will pursue professional sports, but an active and healthy lifestyle is essential for every one of us. Sport teaches us to enjoy physical activity from an early age, and this habit helps to maintain energy and good health throughout life.
This time, I would like to extend my special best wishes to the boys’ 3x3 basketball teams, as the winners in Valmiera will earn the opportunity to compete at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. Given Latvia’s golden tradition in this sport, this is not merely a trip to gain experience – it is a genuine opportunity to make a powerful mark for Latvia on the world sporting stage,” the President said in his message to the young athletes.
As previously announced, the 10th Latvian Youth Olympiad is taking place in Valmiera from 18 to 20 June, having been revived after a six-year hiatus. This year, 41 municipal teams from across Latvia are participating, bringing together more than 3,600 young athletes.
