On 5 June, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands at Riga Castle. Queen Máxima serves as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health. Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands arrived in Latvia at the invitation of the President Rinkēvičs as a special guest at the annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, which is being held in Riga this year.
The parties discussed the importance of financial health, which strengthens people’s ability to manage their daily expenses, build financial resilience and develop skills for both short- and long-term investing, as well as mitigate risks associated with financial fraud and implement solutions to prevent it.
