President of Latvia Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Toms Platacis, Head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), and Paulis Iļjenkovs, Deputy Head of the FIU, at the Riga Castle on 2 September.
Officials discussed the enforcement of international and national sanctions by the Financial Intelligence Unit. President of Latvia was briefed by the Head of FIU about risks identified by the agency and vision of FIU’s future development.
Meeting also focused on the Mutual Evaluation Report of Latvia produced by the Committee of Experts on the Evaluation of Anti-Money Laundering Measures and the Financing of Terrorism (Moneyval) as part of its 6th assessment round.
