Valsts prezidents tiekas ar Saeimas Latgales apakškomisijas deputātiem

On 27 January, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with members of the Saeima Human Rights and Public Affairs Committee's Latgale Subcommittee, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, at the Riga Castle to discuss the actual implementation of the action plan for the economic growth of Latvia’s eastern border region.

During the meeting, participants reviewed progress in implementing the action plan for the economic growth of Latvia’s eastern border region in 2025, as well as the current situation regarding counter-mobility measures along the country’s eastern border, the accessibility of education and healthcare networks, and regional transport issue in the Latgale region.

The President listened to the opinions and perspectives of the members of the Saeima’s Latgale Subcommittee on the further development of Ltd. “Austrumlatvijas koncertzāle”, also known as the Latgale Embassy “Gors”. The President reiterated his position that the Latgale Embassy “Gors” is a cultural centre of regional and national significance. “No one wishes to take away the “Gors” concert hall, but rather to preserve it as a centre of Latvian and Latgalian identity at the national level. Therefore, the state must find a governance model that will ensure the continued operation of this concert hall in line with the objectives of national cultural policy,” said President Rinkēvičs.
