On 12 June, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Minister for Agriculture Uldis Augulis at Riga Castle.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Minister’s work priorities for the coming months, Latvia’s position on the European Union’s Multiannual Financial Framework for 2028–2034, including its stance on the level of direct payments to farmers in the next period. The President also heard the Minister’s views on the findings of the State Audit Office’s review of government support for Latvia’s timber industry companies, as well as on the impact of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism on the competitiveness of farmers.
