On 13 July, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Minister of Climate and Energy Jānis Vitenbergs at Jūrmala residence.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the Minister’s work priorities, including proposals to stabilise the fuel market in preparation for the upcoming heating season. They also reviewed measures to strengthen the protection of critical energy infrastructure.
The President and the Minister further discussed progress on specific areas of work identified during the discussion on Latvia’s long-term energy strategy held at Riga Castle on 23 March this year. A key topic of the meeting was the need for closer inter-institutional cooperation and improvements to the work of the State Environmental Service in order to reduce the administrative burden on businesses, including those operating in the defence sector.
