On 13 July, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with the Minister of Economics Viktors Valainis at Jūrmala residence.
The President shared feedback received from entrepreneurs and residents in the Latgale and called on the Ministry of Economics to seek solutions to provide support in two areas –expanding the housing and business lending programmes implemented by “Development Finance Institution Altum” and easing the eligibility requirements of certain European Union support programmes for businesses operating in the tourism sector.
The President commended the work carried out to date by “Altum” and the Ministry of Economics, in its capacity as Altum’s shareholder, in implementing targeted measures to support entrepreneurs in Latvia’s eastern border region.
During the meeting, the President heard the Minister’s views on the progress of previously launched initiatives and the implementation of new priorities during this government’s term. The parties discussed the steps taken to reduce food prices and proposals for future cooperation projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
