On 4 February 2026, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Minister of Finance Arvils Ašeradens at the Riga Castle. During the meeting, the parties discussed reforms in the field of public procurement and the supervision of non-bank consumer credit providers, as well as the preparation of the 2027 state budget and planned improvements to the municipal equalisation fund.
