Valsts prezidents ieskicē juridiskās izglītības attīstības tendences Latvijā

On 9 September, President of Latvia, Egils Levits, met with Dr. iur. Anita Rodiņa, Dean, Associated Professor of Legal Department of the University of Latvia, at the Riga Castle to discuss the current context of legal science and outline trends of legal education.

President Levits and Dean Rodiņa discussed the progress in introduction of unified state exam for law students and identified challenges in delivering modern legal education of high standards. President stressed the need to put greater emphasis on the European Union (EU) law in legal education and science, as well as promote greater integration and capacity of Latvian legal science in the context of EU law.

The meeting ended with Dean Rodiņa inviting President of Latvia Egils Levits to the event marking the 100th anniversary of Legal Department of University of Latvia, ‘Mission, role and future of legal science in the context of legal systems’. President Levits accepted the invitation to attend the conference and speak about the relationship between constitutional bodies at the national and European level.
