On 27 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the company SIA “Defence Partnership Latvia”, where “Patria” armoured vehicles are manufactured at its facility in Valmiera both for the needs of the National Armed Forces and to strengthen the self-defence capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“The development of the defence industry in Latvia is an important element in strengthening collective defence capabilities. The “Patria” production facility is a good example of close cooperation between Latvia and Finland, as well as joint efforts between local businesses and international partners. It is also a strong example of localisation potential in Latvia and of improving supply security. There are clear opportunities for growth in Latvia’s defence industry. It is essential to ensure the necessary investment and to put in place an appropriate regulatory framework, including measures to attract the workforce,” emphasised President E. Rinkēvičs.
