Valsts prezidents Egils Levits

On 14 June, President of Latvia Egils Levits, President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda and Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas attended the NATO Brussels Summit where they met with US President Joe Biden. Presidents of all four countries shared similar views on NATO’s development and key threats, emphasising the significance of closely coordinated member state response.

President Levits thanked President Biden for America’s leadership in NATO and input in solidifying transatlantic bond. He thanked the US for its contribution to regional security in the Baltics and reiterated that USA is and will continue to be a reliable partner for the Baltics in the delivery of goals described in the North-Atlantic Treaty.

US President addressed his Baltic counterparts saying that democratic values need to be protected more strongly in the ever-changing world and the way they respond to the needs of the society.  To strengthen this response, US is planning to invest substantial amounts of money into supporting innovation and addressing environmental concerns.

Egils Levits mentioned the Three Seas Initiative as one of the ways in which USA can support the development of Eastern Europe, i.e., through investments into regional digital, energy and infrastructure initiatives.
