Raimonds Vējonis
To mark the Victory Day and the Battle of Cēsis one hundred years ago, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will participate in several commemorative events in Cēsis, Skangaļi Manor, and Liepa on Saturday, 22 June 2019. President of Estonia Ms Kersti Kaljulaid will also take part in the solemn occasion.

President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis and President of Estonia Ms Kersti Kaljulaid will address the audience at the opening ceremony of the memory stone dedicated to the Estonian soldiers fallen in the Battle of Skangaļi and will participate in a flower-laying ceremony at the Memorial of Soldiers Fallen in the Battles to Liberate Latvia in Liepa.

At the Cēsis Railway Station, both Presidents will take part in the ceremonial opening of the festival “Power of Alliance”. After that, the President of Latvia and the President of Estonia will address the audience during the military parade and lay the flowers at the Victory Monument.

Continuing the day, President of Latvia Raimonds Vējonis will award the highest state decoration, the Cross of Recognition, to Teacher of Mathematics of the Cēsis State Grammar School Ms Anita Slaidiņa.

Later on at the Bathhouse spring glen in Cēsis, the President of Latvia will watch the performance of the reconstructed Battle of Cēsis and will attend a festive concert of Oratorio “Carmina Burana” by Carl Orff dedicated to the centenary of the Battle of Cēsis in Concert Hall Cēsis.
