On 12 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs asked the Prosecutor General Armīns Meisters to verify the facts in order to determine whether the deaths of animals in Ķemeri National Park may be linked to violations of the law.
President Rinkēvičs has reviewed the information provided in an open letter regarding the situation in the Dunduri Meadows of Ķemeri National Park, where a large number of dead animals have been found. Concluding that a thorough examination is required to determine whether any legal violations have occurred, the President, in accordance with Article 16, Part Two, Clause 2 of the Office of the Prosecutor Law, has requested the Prosecutor’s Office to verify the facts and take the necessary measures to protect the rights and lawful interests of individuals and the state.
