Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs Rīgas pilī tiekas ar Latvijas Trešās paaudzes universitāšu asociācijas pārstāvjiem

On 13 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met at the Riga Castle with representatives of the Latvian Association of Universities of the Third Age to discuss opportunities for lifelong learning and the further development of senior schools in Latvia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of senior schools in promoting an active and socially fulfilling life in senior years, as well as ways to expand access to learning opportunities and joint activities for seniors across different regions of Latvia. It was emphasised that, as society ages, it is particularly important to strengthen opportunities for lifelong learning and to create an environment in which seniors can remain active, share their experience, and participate in community life.

“Our society is seeing a growing number of seniors, which is why it is important to look for new ways to improve quality of life in later stages of life. Senior schools provide a place where people can meet like-minded individuals, enrich their daily lives with new knowledge and experiences, and enjoy spending time together,” emphasised E. Rinkēvičs.

The President welcomed the progress made so far in the development of senior schools in Latvia and stressed the importance of continuing to expand this initiative so that an increasing number of seniors can participate in learning, social activities, and community life.
