Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs Rīgas pilī tiekas ar Zviedrijas kroņprincesi Viktoriju

On 5 March, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met at the Riga Castle with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, who is visiting Latvia on a working visit. During the meeting, the parties discussed the the parties discussed the bilateral relations between Latvia and Sweden as well as cooperation in the fields of security, defence and economy.

The President emphasised that Sweden’s contribution to the NATO multinational brigade in Latvia strengthens both bilateral relations and regional security overall. “The presence of Swedish Armed Forces in Latvia is not merely symbolic. It practically enhances the defence capabilities of Latvia and of the entire Baltic region,” stressed E. Rinkēvičs.

During the meeting, the President discussed economic cooperation between the two countries as Sweden ranks fifth among Latvia’s trading partners and is the country’s largest investor. “Latvian companies are highly interested in cooperating with Sweden. Latvia wishes to continue developing economic cooperation with Sweden, particularly in information and communication technologies, the bioeconomy, energy, digitalisation, connectivity, the military industry, as well as research and innovation,” emphasised E. Rinkēvičs.
