Valsts prezidents pateicas Latvijas goda konsulam Osakā par ieguldījumu Latvijas–Japānas attiecību stiprināšanā
On 24 October, the President of Latvia Egils Levits who is currently on a working visit in Japan met Latvia’s Honorary Council in Osaka, Mr Tamio Ishibashi.

President of Latvia thanked Latvia’s Honorary Consul in Osaka for strengthening the relations between Latvia and Japan, active contribution of Japan-Latvian Society in Kansai, facilitating the visits of Latvian officials to Japan and practical assistance to Latvian exchange students studying in Japan.

President and Honorary Consul both underlined that bilateral dialogue between the two countries has intensified in recent years. Exchanges between both countries have become more active and there is also a growing interest in close economic cooperation. Next week Latvia’s Minister for Economics, Ralfs Nemiro, will visit Japan, and there are also plans to arrange a visit of Japanese Business Federation Keidanren to Latvia.

Meeting of the President of Latvia and Prime Minister of Japan, H. E. Mr Shinzo Abe, on 25 October, will conclude Egils Levits’ working visit to Japan.
