The President of Latvia urges for the prompt transfer of European Union funding to Ukraine

On 16 February, President Edgars Rinkēvičs met with Mr Johannes Hahn, the Commissioner for Budget and Administration of the European Commission, to discuss the European Union (EU) budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework, and support for Ukraine. The meeting was held in the margins of the Munich Security Conference.

At the meeting, President Rinkēvičs welcomed the European Council's decision to allocate €50 billion to support Ukraine and stressed the need to transfer the funds to Ukraine as soon as possible. Additionally, the President noted the importance of increasing the capacity of the military industry and fulfilling the EU's commitment to supply Ukraine with one million artillery shells.
