On 12 May, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music. During the visit, he attended individual practical lessons for aspiring conductors, vocalists, drummers and pianists, got acquainted with music technologies, and met with the school’s students. The discussion with the pupils focused on further study opportunities, the importance of not being afraid to make mistakes, seizing life’s opportunities, and of course, the love of music and its role in daily life.
“The opportunity to make music is a tremendous value. In today’s age of technology, music education, the cultivation of creativity and improvisation are more important than ever. At the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music, I met young people with big dreams and a strong sense of responsibility in working to follow them. There are excellent teachers here who inspire and motivate students to realise their full potential, and most importantly – to love learning.
Students from the Jāzeps Mediņš Riga Secondary School of Music will also take part in XIII Latvian School Youth Song and Dance Festival this summer. May every moment on stage be filled with joy, courage and confidence, and may music unite you with your classmates, friends and the people of Latvia,” said the President after the visit.
