Vizīte Tieslietu akadēmijā

On 20 March, the President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited the Judicial Academy and familiarised himself with its work.

“The establishment of the Judicial Academy demonstrates that increasing attention is being paid to the continuous development of the professional knowledge and skills of those working in the judiciary and the prosecution service. Without knowledgeable and competent judges, court staff, prosecutors and prosecution service employees, it is not possible to ensure lawful and genuinely fair resolution of disputes. This is closely linked to public confidence in the rule of law and trust in the state as a whole. I would like to commend the Judicial Academy’s staff for their diligent approach to organising training, so that representatives of the justice sector from all regions of Latvia can make use of the opportunities provided by the Academy,” said President E. Rinkēvičs following his visit.

During the meeting, the President and the Director of the Judicial Academy Laila Jurcēna also discussed the Academy’s role in organising research that helps to promote and improve the efficiency of the courts and the prosecution service.
