09.09.2025. Valsts prezidents Edgars Rinkēvičs apmeklē Rīgas Dzemdību namu

On 9 September, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Riga Maternity Hospital, where he familiarised himself with the work of the maternity centre, the operating block, as well as the centres for prenatal diagnostics and maternal and child care.

The President discussed with the management and medical staff of the Riga Maternity Hospital the measures necessary to promote maternal and child health and well-being, as well as the main courses of action set out in the Maternal and Child Health Improvement Plan 2025–2027.

“What we have seen today confirms that we are able to provide professional support to families. At the same time, it is important to continue to improve healthcare services in a targeted manner in order to enhance the experience of expectant and new parents. The safer, more compassionate, and better managed the pregnancy, the greater the likelihood that there will be more children in our families,” said President Rinkēvičs.

President Rinkēvičs thanked doctors, midwives and all staff members for their support to families during these significant moments: “I highly value the contribution of doctors, midwives and the entire staff in supporting families at these important moments in their lives. Every child born here is of great value to Latvia. Your work in helping children enter the world, providing parents with a sense of security, warmth, and confidence that they are not alone, is a crucial factor in promoting demographic growth.”
