Rīgas 49. pirmsskolas izglītības iestādes apmeklējums

On 23 May, President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Riga preschool educational institution No. 49 to familiarise himself with its activities and to meet with the management and pupils.

Riga preschool educational institution No. 49 has been providing early childhood education in the Skanste neighbourhood for 80 years. During the visit, the President got to know the learning environment and engaged in an educational conversation with the children – about the presidency, cars, the best professions, friendships after finishing kindergarten, and other subjects.

“Preschool is not only a child’s first introduction to the world and the foundations of education, but also a warm and safe environment where children develop their skills, emotional intelligence, social abilities, and sense of belonging to our country. It is a place for first learning experiences, first friendships, and at times, first disappointments. The dedicated teams at preschools lay the groundwork for children to trust, cooperate, explore, feel safe, and respect others. At Riga preschool educational institution No. 49, I met a wonderful future generation of Latvia – smiling, curious, and creative children, as well as excellent teachers and support staff who inspire a love for learning and prepare children for the next stage in their educational journey,” said President Rinkēvičs.

President of Latvia also discussed development needs and future vision with the preschool’s director, Vineta Jonīte, with a focus on making kindergartens in the growing Skanste area more accessible for families and reducing current waiting lists.
