On 27 March, the President Edgars Rinkēvičs visited Smiltene Secondary School, where he met with the school’s leadership, teachers and students. The President learned about the school’s work and current developments. He visited the school at the invitation of student Hugo Junkers.
“I had the opportunity to see the students’ joy and pride in their school. That is an extremely positive assessment. I must thank Hugo for this opportunity, we met at the event marking the 200th anniversary of Krišjānis Valdemārs in Ainaži, where he invited me to visit his excellent school. Smiltene Secondary School is working in a focused and purposeful way to improve the quality of education and the emotional well-being of its students. Support staff play an essential role in this work. It is precisely this day-to-day effort that builds a strong and cohesive school community, where children can grow and develop, and this is also important for the local community,” President E. Rinkēvičs said after the visit.
