President of Latvia Egils Levits will visit Daugavpils on 4-5 April. He will meet with local government and opinion leaders from Daugavpils and other parts of Latgale to encourage them to deepen the state-municipal cooperation, strengthen social cohesion and solidarity in the new geopolitical and economic conditions.
In Daugavpils, which is one of so-called ‘state cities’, President of Latvia Egils Levits will be joined by other panellists, such as mayors of Latgale planning region municipalities, Minister for Environmental Protection and Regional Development Artūrs Toms Plešs, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economy Ilze Indriksone and experts of Latvian Investment and Development Agency, for a discussion on Latgale’s development scenarios in the new geopolitical and economic conditions.
President of Latvia will also discuss constitutional values with youngsters during the meeting organised in scope of the ‘#Satversme 100: future values’ youth debate series marking the centenary of Latvian constitution. Daugavpils debate, titled ‘Imagining green future: today’s compromises for better future’, will focus on choices available when balancing environmental concern with individual well-being.
Egils Levits’ regional trip to Daugavpils will include a visit to one of the two historic Latvian secondary schools of Daugavpils, the Secondary School 12, and meeting with the Rector of the Daugavpils University Irēna Kokina. President Levits will also meet with staff of company ‘Axon Cable’ and give interviews to several regional media from Latgale.
