On 18 September, President Edgars Rinkēvičs participated in the 2023 United States-Baltic States Strategic Investment Summit, which brought together government representatives, representatives of national investment agencies, as well as existing and potential US investors and entrepreneurs in the Baltic States. The aim of the event was to promote economic cooperation between the US and the Baltic States.
President Rinkēvičs drew attention to Latvia's advantages for USA investors. For example, US investors can gain access to the European Union (EU) single market while benefiting from efficient transport, information and telecommunications technology infrastructure, and a highly skilled workforce. In his address, E. Rinkēvičs emphasised that economic cooperation between US and Latvia should be based on products and services with high added value. Currently, Latvia can support niche areas with high labour expertise in sectors such as ICT, bioeconomy, biomedicine, smart materials and technologies, and sustainable energy. In addition, the Baltic countries have experienced very rapid growth in recent years and are therefore deeply integrated into the EU and global markets.
