Official visit of H.E. Mr Klaus Werner Iohannis, President of Romania, to Latvia will mark 100 years since establishment of diplomatic relations between Latvia and Romania on 23 November. President of Latvia Egils Levits and his Romanian counterpart will discuss security and energy in Europe and how Russia-Ukraine war has affected these sectors, as well as other current priorities.
Official welcoming ceremony on the square by the Riga Castle at 14:00 will be broadcast live on Channel 1 of the Latvian Television, followed by official meeting of Latvian and Romanian delegations and press conference with both heads of state.
Presidents will then proceed to Freedom Monument for the flower laying ceremony at 15:40, President of Romania will meet with Speaker of the Saeima Edvards Smiltēns at 15:55 and Prime Minister of Latvia Krišjānis Kariņš at the Cabinet of Ministers at 16:30.
President Iohannis will conclude his official visit to Latvia by going to the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia.
